Rio Hackford, a club owner and actor who appeared in films and television shows including “Jonah Hex,” “Swingers” and “The Mandalorian,” died Thursday, his brother said. He was 52.

Hackford died after an illness in Huntington Beach, California, his brother, Alex Hackford, told Variety.

The actor’s most recent role was as a manager in one episode of the 2022 miniseries, “Pam & Tommy.”

Rio Hackford, who was the son of director Taylor Hackford, was remembered by friends for being a “connector of all sorts of people,” his friend, screenwriter D.V. DeVincentis, told Variety.

“Not simply obsessed with movies and how they mirrored and compelled, he was something more: a superfan of innumerable scenes, of particular gestures of unsung actors, weird career turns, roaring comebacks, cinema swan songs,” DeVincentis wrote in an Instagram post.

In the 2010 film, “Jonah Hex,” Rio Hackford played Grayden Nash, according to IMDb.com. In “Treme,” set in New Orleans where he owned the One-Eyed Jacks club, Hackford played the part of Toby in several episodes of the television series.

On “Swingers,” Hackford played Skully in the 1996 independent film. In “The Mandalorian,” he was the on-set performer of the droid IG-11, according to Variety.

Hackford also appeared as a junkie in “Pretty Woman” and a bartender in “Strange Days,” Variety reported.
