Gloria Sevilla, one of the oldest living Pinoy actors before her death, died in the US.

Cebuana actress Gloria Sevilla quietly passed on in her sleep in Oakland, California on April 16. She was 90.

Veteran broadcaster and events host Sam Costanilla broke the news of her death via a Facebook post, “Gloria Sevilla, Queen of Visayan Movies, has died in the US. She was a Sibonganhon. Tita Glo was 90 when she passed."

Meanwhile, no further details have been announced yet about plans for her funeral.

Having starred in most of the Visayan-made/spoken films since the 1950's, she has earned the tag “Queen of Visayan Movies.”

Born on January 31, 1932, the young Gloria already showed the makings of an actress which proved to be her fate.

Just like many showbiz discovery stories, the young Gloria too was reportedly discovered by a talent scout when she was 14.

Among her movies were Badlis sa Kinabuhi in 1969 which won her a best actress trophy at the FAMAS (Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences), Gimingaw Ako, Madugong Paghihiganti, and many others.

From her early beginnings in Visayan films, Gloria tried her luck in Manila and started television acting at the dawn of the 1970s. Since then, she has done mostly comic roles in sitcoms.

Gloria was first married to fellow actor Mat Ranillo II with whom she had five children including veteran actor Mat Ranillo III.

When her first husband died in a plane crash in 1969, Gloria remarried in the person of actor Amado Cortez. He died in 2003.
