RIP Liliana Chiari

 La Gazzetta Del Mezzogiorno

2/27/2022

Bewilderment in the world of art for the disappearance of Liliana Chiari in Bari. She was the mother of Chiari Fumai, the famous artist who died tragically in Bari in 2017. To keep her memory, she had formed the association 'The Church of Chiari Fumai', assuming its presidency. She had promoted an exhibition-homage set up in Bari in the Margherita Theater in 2019 and the great retrospective curated by the Genevra Contemporary Art Center in 2020, from which a tour had started with stops in Prato, Brussels and (next March) in Madrid, in it the works loaned by Liliania Chiari, who also held readings with writings by Chiara, have a conspicuous part. Her death took place in the Oncology clinic in Bari where she had recently been hospitalized. She was 82 years old, and her only relative and brother lives in Milan. Thus, unknowns about the management of her inheritance open up. Liliana intended to republish the works of her daughter which is now on tour in Bari. A problem that could also affect local authorities
