Farewell to the historic lyricist, voice actor, singer and musical director, a part of the Disney world in Italy. His career was very long, in which he remained known above all for his work in adapting the songs of films and TV series and for the dubbing of the character of Pumbaa in the film The Lion King.

Mourning in the world of dubbing and film music: Ernesto Brancucci, also known as Ermavilo, lyricist, singer and voice actor famous for his work on songs from Disney films and series, has died. He was the voice of Pumbaa  in the 1994 masterpiece  The Lion King and sang the famous DuckTales theme songs - Adventures of Ducks, Chip & Dale Special Agents, What Happened to Carmen Sandiego? as well as Aladdin's song The Nights of the East .

The announcement of his daughter Lorena Brancucci

The announcement of his passing comes from the Facebook page of his daughter Lorena Brancucci, who followed in her father's footsteps (among other things, she was the voice of Nala in the sung parts of the Lion King): "Dear friends, it is with a broken heart that I find myself forced to announce that my dad, my beloved dad, has left us. To those who believe in God, I ask to pray for him, to those who do not believe in a life beyond death, I ask to honor his memory. To all of you who have known and loved him, I ask you to continue to carry his memory and his teachings in your heart, so that he may live forever. The funeral will take place privately, to avoid putting anyone's safety at risk, but with the promise that, as soon as the risks of contagion are eliminated, the "Master of all" will be honored as he deserves, with a ceremony that will allow anyone who has loved him to show him their affection".

The career of Ernesto Brancucci

Born in Rome on 23 November 1947 by Italo Brancucci and brother of the singer Maria Cristina Brancucci, he had taken on the name of Ermavilo as a mixture of his initials and those of his wife Marinella Viri and his daughters Virginia and Lorena. After having started singing in the Alleluia Clan, he was chosen by the maestro Pietro Carapellucci for the parts sung in various films. Starting from 1986 and from Basil the detective, after the death of Roberto De Leonardi, he began to deal with the adaptations for the lyrics of the songs of the Disney films. Since 1993 he has worked as a music director for many films, such as Nightmare Before Christmas, The Lion King, Lilo & Stitch, The Princess and the Frog, Rebel - The Brave, Frozen - The Kingdom of Ice, Oceania, Coco, Ralph Breaks the Internet, As if by Enchantment, The Return by Mary Poppins, Dumbo.

All Brancucci's stage names

Curiosity: in addition to that of Ermavilo, Brancucci had adopted various pseudonyms in his career. In the dub of Pumbaa he was credited as Augusto Giardino in the first film and Mirko Pontrelli in the two sequels. He also appeared as Mirko Pontrelli in the role of Naso in Rapunzel - The plot of the tower, while in Aladdin, The Return of Jafar, and Aladdin and the King of Thieves (voiced a merchant) and in Nightmare Before Christmas (Vado) signed Daniele Viri. Giardino and Viri were actually names of other choristers.
