January 13, 2021

Actor Gábor Vass died after a long, serious illness, it was told on the Szinkronjunkie blog and his Facebook page. Gábor Vass was 64 years old. In the post, it was noted that the actor worked hard and cheerfully despite his illness.

Gábor Vass was born in Kömlő,  in 1956 and graduated from the College of Theater and Film Arts in 1978 as a student of the last class of Zoltán Várkonyi. He worked at the Szigliget Theater in Szolnok, the Szeged National Theater and the Madách Theater, then became a freelancer. Due to his deep, characterful voice, he often dubbed actors in movies. For example, he has dubbed Sean Connery several times in James Bond films, and several times Samuel L. Jackson had a Hungarian voice, and he was Bruce Willis' dubbed voice in the first “Die Hard”.

Gábor Vass was also an employee of Retro Radio. The radio reported on its website this morning that the actor had lost his life due to a coronavirus infection. They stated that Gábor Vass was an unknown acquaintance of their students for more than 3 years, and since 2016 he has been working as the “voice of Retro Radio”.
