Ryszard Kotys, film and theater actor, director and screenwriter, died tonight after a serious illness. Known, among others from the role of Marian Paździoch in the Polsat television series "Świat according to Kiepskich". He was 88 years old.
In 1953 he graduated from the State Higher School of Acting in Krakow, he made his debut at the Teatr im. Stefan Żeromski in Kielce. In the following years he performed on the stages of many theaters.
In over 65 years of his career, he has starred in over 40 series and 150 feature films. He was most popular with the role of Marian Paździoch, Ferdynand Kiepski's neighbor, in the Polsat television series "Świat according to Kiepskich", in which he played since 1999.
He made his debut on the big screen in 1954 with Andrzej Wajda in the film "A Generation". He performed, among others in "The Saragossa Manuscript" and "The Doll" by Wojciech Has, "Skok" by Kazimierz Kutz, "Samsy" by Sylwester Chęciński, "Leader" by Feliks Falk, "A Room with a Sea View" by Janusz Zaorski, "Vabank", "Vabank II , or retort "and" Kingsajzie "by Juliusz Machulski. It could also be seen, among others as PZPR secretary in Mirosław Borek's "Konsul", Marek Lechki's father in "Erratum" and a member of the medical ethics committee in Łukasz Palkowski's "Gods".
In 2018, the actor suffered severe pneumonia, after which he did not regain full fitness. Recently, due to his advanced age and deteriorating health, the actor withdrew from appearances in the theater and films, but he still appeared in the series "World according to the Kiepski".
In 1999, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta.
