Corrado Olmi, the career
Refined protagonist of the television set, cinema but also of the theatrical stage with over 50 years of career, Olmi had taken his first steps in the amateur dramatics of his city, Jesi (Ancona) where he was born on 24 October 1926, on the same stage - that of the Theater Pergolesi - from which Valeria Moriconi took off. And together with Valeria and her husband Aldo Moriconi, Olmi had decided in 1952 to try the artistic adventure in Rome, starting from the Marche city all aboard an 1100 car. Immense filmography - over 90 films - the first of which was Sin of chastity by Gianni Franciolini (1956).
Among the many comedies in which he has acted include La cuccagna by Luciano Salce (1962), Adultero lui, adultera lei by Raffaello Matarazzo (1963), Frenesia dell'estate by Luigi Zampa (1963), The fairies by Mario Monicelli (1966), Our husbands by Luigi Zampa (1966), Il Provinciale di Salce (1971), Crazy in love with Castellano and Pipolo (1981) and Bonnie and Clyde in the Italian style of Steno (1983). But there was no shortage of excursions into horror, so much so that it was directed twice by Dario Argento in The Cat with Nine Tails (1971) and Four Flies of Gray Velvet (1971).
Not only was he one of the best-known character actors in Italian cinema, but he was also very active in the theater, for prose, variety and operetta, and a well-known face of several TV dramas, including the best known was The Count of Montecristo.
Very talented artist
He also loved drawing and writing and was an excellent cartoonist. In 1993 he received the “Una Vita per il Teatro” award given to him in the Capitol. While among the many awards for his cinematographic activity we remember the Silver Ribbon for the best supporting actor for the film La cena (1998) by Ettore Scola. He has worked with many directors, including Mario Monicelli, Roberto Rossellini, Alberto Lattuada, Steno, Castellano and Pipolo, Bruno Corbucci, Pier Francesco Pingitore.
