On August 19, at the age of 89, the theater, film and TV actor Virginio Gazzolo passed away. Son (Lauro) and brother of art (Nando) he has devoted his life to the stage: after leaving his studies to follow his passion, he made his debut in the 60s becoming a reference in Roman theater. He is one of the protagonists and founders of the "Teatro dei 101", an experimental laboratory where Gigi Proietti and Piera Degli Esposti, among others, take their first steps. In 1969 he co-founded the Emilia Romagna Theatre Community in Modena. On TV, his interpretation of Leon Battista Alberti in the series L'età di Cosimo de' Medici (1973), directed by Roberto Rossellini, is famous. He also lends his talent to dubbing for some international film stars (Gene Hackman, Klaus Kinski). In the mature phase of his career, he dedicated himself to acting and the dissemination of the classics: he constantly contributed to the "Prospettiva Dante" review in Ravenna, where he was expected in September.
