September 3, 2021 Marian Collier Neuman, 90, television and motion picture actress, passed away at her home on September 3, 2021, after celebrating her birthday with friends and family on August 23 and 24. She was predeceased by her husband, award-winning writer and producer, E. Jack Neuman.Marian was the last living member of the all-girl band in the Billy Wilder comedy "Some Like It Hot," a role for which she would receive attention her entire life. Marian was born in East Chicago, Indiana, one of five children born to Romanian-born parents, John and Valeria Chulay. She was predeceased by her siblings, John C. Chulay with whom she worked in both film and television, Albert Chulay, Violet Manuszak and Virginia Moisica.She appeared in the films "Bells are Ringing," "Pay or Die, "and "Road Racers", as well as many television shows.In 1963 she played a recurring role in television's "Mr. Novak," an Emmy-nominated series created by her future husband, E. Jack Neuman, about a high school teacher that explored significant social issues of the time.Marian appeared in numerous made-for-television movies throughout her career, including "Inside the Third Reich" also written and produced by her husband, as well as the feature film "The Berlin Affair".Other credits include "Kate McShane," "Law and Order," "Police Story," "The Hunting Party," "Three the Hard Way," "Maverick" and the "Lethal Weapon" film franchise.Marian Collier Neuman is survived by her stepchildren, Eric John Neuman, Zachary Neuman, Victoria Neuman Talbot and Claudia Neuman, a step-granddaughter and a step-great-grandson, and eleven nieces and nephews.For inquiries or comments, MCNMemorial@gmail.com.
