The Dresden artist Hanns-Jörn Weber died on Wednesday at the age of 79. The Dresden State Theater announced this in the evening. Weber was part of the Staatsschauspiel ensemble from 1970 to 2007 and was seen in more than 100 roles.
Among other things, he appeared on the stage as Parzival in Christoph Hein's “The Knights of the Round Table” and as Peachum in Brecht's “Threepenny Opera”. After leaving the ensemble, he stayed with the house as a guest, for example in Uwe Tellkamp's “Der Turm” and Gerhart Hauptmann's “Die Ratten”.
Weber was born on December 16, 1941 in Bromberg (Bydgoszcz). He studied at the Babelsberg Film Academy and played on stages in Quedlinburg, Schwerin and Magdeburg. Weber also had roles in television productions, such as “Polizeiruf 110” and “Tatort”.
