RIP Samuel Clemens

 

Director, writer and actor Samuel Clemens, son of legendary screenwriter Brian Clemens (‘The Avengers’) and his wife Janet Clemens died on July 6th. He was a month shy of turning 44. Clemens is related to Mark Twain, being his great, great, great nephew, sharing the same name as the revered writer.

Clemens went to school at Bedford Modern School from 1989-98 then went on to drama school. He trained at the prestigious 'The Drama Centre London' and graduated in 2001. His first acting job was a commercial for 'Nissan' but he didn't make final cut. His first break was given to him by David Drury in Family (2003) opposite Martin Kemp.

He set up a production company with his brother George called TeamGeorge Productions and wrote, produced and directed his first feature “The Lighter” (2011). He also directed a stage version of his father's play "Strictly Murder", which starred Brian Capron.

Clemens had written and was scheduled to direct the British western “Fall from Grace” which is in pre-production.
