Marcela Daviland, an actress remembered for her career in the Mexican Golden Cinema, died on February 6 at the age of 98.
Through the social networks of the National Association of Actors (ANDA) it was reported that Daviland died. So far, the reason for her death is unknown.
Marcela is remembered for having participated in films such as Pablo y Carolina, where she acted alongside Pedro Infante. Throughout her career, she participated in more than 30 films, having success mainly during the era of the Golden Cinema and the Cine de ficheras.
The actress was born in Italy in 1925, her real name was Marcelina Marcello Morelli. In her youth she started in the world of acting, as she came from a family in which for generations they were dedicated to the stage both for music and for dramatic art.
Her first steps on the big screen were in her native country, where she filmed Il paese dei campanelli when he was 29 years old. Her career in Italy continued until 1955, when she came to Mexico to try her luck in the film La sultana Safuyé.
By 1965 she had already managed to land one of her first big roles on the big screen with the film New Faces. From then on, she attracted more attention to other people and had more film roles.
One of his most important projects was El mexicano feo, alongside Eric del Castillo and Ninón Sevilla. She also starred alongside Tin Tan in his film And the Models, where she was one of the models.
Throughout her career, Marcela was part of different currents of cinema in Mexico, making her a multifaceted actress.
Daviland not only tried her luck with movies but was also part of telenovelas and series such as Amor en silencio, where she played Elvira de Zambrano, and La madrastra.
As for her personal life, it is known that she married fellow actor Raúl Ramírez, who was president of the National Association of Interpreters. Over the course of their marriage, they had one son, Raul Marcelo Ramirez.
The actress reportedly divorced her husband years before he died in 2014, although others claim they were together until the end. Ramirez died from health complications due to his age.
