Matilde Vilariño, one of the mythical actresses of the Cadena SER cast, has died at the age of 100. She acted in dozens of radio serials. And although she dominated all genres and characters, she was especially known for voicing children as in the Eduardo Vázquez serial Matilde, Perico y Periquín. Vilariño gave voice to Periquín.

Matilde Vilariño entered radio at the end of the 1940s and made radio compatible with dubbing. She was awarded the Ondas de radio 1960 Award for best actress.

In an interview, already during the 90s, she regretted that she had been pigeonholed into roles as children, because she, she said, she had done "everything."

In 1942, Antonio Calderón created the company of actors in Radio Madrid. Armand Blanch did the same in Barcelona. And in smaller stations he also spread the theater, always halfway between the adaptation of classic works and the interpretation of scripts expressly written for the radio.

The dubbing voice of many children Ángeles Afuera, the former head of Documentation for Cadena SER, has reviewed in Hoy por Hoy the figure of Matilde Vilariño, an actress who voiced Periquín, Maya the bee, Marcelino, Vicky el Vikingo ... "She was charming, a Small figure and energetic at the same time, like a doll with character ", remembers Afuera. "She was capable of embodying children, recreating their laughter, intonations, tantrums ... and she worked in all the classic plays adapted to the radio, from Shakespeare to Molière, passing through Calderón de la Barca and Lope de Vega".
