Bob Fujitani passed away Sunday at 99 years old.
He was born in 1921 into an Irish-Japanese family. After
studying art in New York,
he drew comics for several comic book publishers in the early 1940s. His name
can be found on series published by Avon Comic Group, Dell Comics, Harvey
Comics, Lev Gleason Publications (among others on Crime Does Not Pay, etc. He
also illustrates journal articles and worked on several comic strips as Guy the
Lightning. In 1962, he participated in the creation of Doctor Solar, Man of the
Atom. In the 1990s, he drew the strip Rip Kirby.
In 2005, he received an Inkpot Award at San Diego Comic Con.
