We learn from Pascal Bresson, the screenwriter, of
the death of the Belgian cartoonist René Follet at the age of 88. He had drawn for both the "Journal de Spirou" and the
"Journal Tintin". We owe him the characters of
Ivan Zourine, Steve Severin, Daddy, Edmund Bell, Ikar, Sylvain Brisard ...
An outstanding illustrator, his verist drawing in the tradition of Pierre Ickx, Pierre Joubert and MiTacq, deeply influenced a generation of designers, including Emmanuel Lepage.
He had illustrated the greatest: Jean Ray / John Flanders, Maurice Tillieux, André-Paul Duchâteau, Yvan Delporte, Jacques Stoquart, Matin Lodewijk, Loup Durand… He had assisted both MiTacq and William Vance. He was one of the great Belgian realistic designers of his time.
It is with sadness that we learn of the passing of this modest artist whose career we will trace in a few hours.
