Veteran actor Orson Bean died Friday night after he was reportedly struck by multiple vehicles in Los Angeles. He was 91.

The “Being John Malkovich” actor was crossing Venice Boulevard around 7:35 p.m. when he was hit by “multiple vehicles,” KNBC-TV in Los Angeles reported. Distraught witnesses were seen consoling each other, while one of the drivers believed to have hit Bean tried to help him.

“The car coming westbound did not see him and clipped him and he went down,” Los Angeles Police Department Captain Brian Wendling told ABC7. “A second vehicle was coming up, was distracted by people trying to slow him down and then looked up and then a second traffic collision occurred and that one was fatal.”

An officer told FoxLA that police were called at 7:35 p.m. local time and Bean was later pronounced dead. Both drivers remained at the scene, and no charges have been filed.
Bean reached the height of his acting career in the 60s and 70s and often appeared on televised game shows. His TV roles included “The Twilight Zone,” “Modern Family,” “Desperate Housewives, “Hot in Cleveland” and “Grace & Frankie.”

His more than 100 acting credits. One of his final film roles was portraying a Holocaust survivor in “The Equalizer 2” in 2018.

Bean is survived by his third wife — actress Alley Mills, 68, who played Kevin’s mom Norma on “The Wonder Years.” The two had performed in a play titled “Bad Habits” in Santa Monica, which had ended its run last week.

He also had four children: Michele Bean, Max Bean, Susannah Bean and Ezekiel Bean.
