Nicky Katt Dies: The ‘Dazed And Confused’ And ‘Boston Public’ Actor Was 54

Actor Nicky Katt, who is remembered for his three-season stint as the unorthodox teacher Harry Senate on the David E. Kelley high school drama Boston Public, has died. He was 54 and the cause of this death has not been announced.
Born May 11, 1970 in South Dakota, Nicki Katt bowed on television at age 10 in an uncredited role on the original Fantasy Island. Other early child guest parts followed, including episodes of dramas CHiPs, Father Murphy and Code Red. In 1982, Katt co-starred in the five-episode sitcom Herbie, the Love Bug, which was adapted from the 1968 Walt Disney film, The Love Bug.
More TV guest spots followed, including on Voyagers!, Trapper John, M.D., Quincy, M.E., V and The Facts of Life. Katt also lent his voice to the animated The Get Along Gang in the mid-1980s, and in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
Katt’s film roles, predominantly as unsympathetic villains, included A Time to Kill (1996), SubUrbia (1996), The Limey (1999), Boiler Room (2000), The Way of the Gun (2000), Insomnia (2002), School of Rock (2003), Sin City (2005) and Snow Angels (2008). Earlier he had a role in the 1993 coming-of-age film Dazed and Confused.
On stage, Katt starred in Woody Allen’s play A Second Hand Memory at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2004 as Eddie Wolfe, the son and nephew of characters played by Dominic Chianese and Michael McKean.
Katt’s final on screen credit, according to IMDb, was in an episode of Hulu dramedy Casual in 2018.
