The funeral will take place on January 19 in the Madrid town of Pozuelo de Alarcón.
Born in Terrassa in 1936, Comas Gil studied at the Official School of Journalism in this city, where his later work as a film critic in different media would lead him to join the world of the seventh art.
It was in 1964 when, hired by Ocean Films, he began writing and co-writing screenplays for international co-productions, most of them with Italy.
Thus came the opportunity to embark on the script for " For a Fistful of Dollars, " the first film in the Dollar Trilogy, followed by "For a Few Dollars More" and " The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”, the best-known title in his filmography and starring Clint Eastwood.
The film which laid the groundwork for the “Spaghetti Western” as a film subgenre and brought fame to Clint Eastwood and director Sergio Leone, also focused on the Spanish screenwriter, who worked alongside other directors, A Bonzzoni and Victor Andres Catena in his writing.
That same year he would also write the screenplay for "The Pirates of Malaysia" by Umberto Lenzi and produced his first film, "The Spontaneous", a Spanish bullfighting film directed by Jorge Grau.
Determined to dedicate himself to cinema and already with an extensive career as a screenwriter and producer, in 1968 Comas Gil founded his first film company, Arcos Films, with which he produced the film by Fernando Merino “La que arman las mujeres”.
At the same time, he continued to write screenplays such as "Spy Nest" or "The Crystal Sphinx".
After that, in 1973, he started Alas Films, with which he participated with “Caboblanco”, directed by J. Lee Thompson, the Italian film “Iguana” by Monte Hellman and the Spanish film by Carlos Saura "Shoot!"
In 1998, Comas Gil decided to make the international leap and created the distributor New World Films International, in which he would produce "Change of Direction" by Michael Bray, "One Man’s Hero" by Lance Hool starring Tom Berenguer and "Diario de una becaria” by Josetxo Sant Mateu, this being the last film he produced.
