Enriqueta Jiménez "La Prieta Linda" passes away

The singer and actress Enriqueta Jiménez “La Prieta Linda”, from films like “Under the Sky of Mexico” and “El gallo colorado”, has died at the age of 88.Her family informed the media of her death on Tuesday in Mexico City.
Enriqueta “Queta” Jiménez began singing at age 14 and made her debut with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán. With her older sister Flor Silvestre, another star of regional Mexican music, she formed the duet Las Flores with which she recorded “Los desvelados” and “Lo traigo en la sangre”. Her first success as a soloist was “Quieto chapulín”. Other of his popular songs were "Lovers of a night", "Thousand chains" and "To see."
Jiménez was recognized as the first star to record a song by the unknown young man Alberto Aguilera Valadez, that is to say Juan Gabriel, “Noche a noche”, as well as for having helped him regain his freedom when he was imprisoned in Lecumberri, unjustly accused of robbery. Years later, both would recreate this part of the story of Juan Gabriel in the 1982 film “Es mi vida”.
Jiménez was born on July 4, 1933 in Salamanca, Guanajuato. She was married to the late journalist Raúl Vieyra, with whom she had three daughters: Érika, Velia and Isabel.
Jiménez was the aunt of the stars of the Mexican regional Pepe and Antonio Aguilar, sons of Flor Silvestre.
Other films in which she acted, in a career that spanned from the 1950s to the 1980s, are "Valente Quintero", "Valentín de la Sierra", "Los alegres Aguilares" and "O'ra es when green chile".
