Artist Mitch Byrd has passed away this week following an illness at age 64 years old. On behalf of the CAF community, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans.

The comics community is mourning the loss of artist Mitch Byrd, whose energetic storytelling and distinctive style made him a familiar name to readers throughout the 1990s and beyond. Byrd built a career that spanned mainstream superheroes, independent comics, and fantasy illustration, earning the respect of fans and fellow creators alike. He died following a heart attack after a long illness, leaving behind a legacy of memorable artwork and countless fans inspired by his talent....

Mitch Byrd (July 28, 1962 – July 21, 2026) was an illustrator that worked for numerous companies such as Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and Image. His work encompassed many popular titles like Green Lantern, Lady Death, Generation X, Shi, and Starman. He was also called upon to do licensed work on Predator and Starship Troopers.
