‘Halloween’ actor dies at 85

Charles Cyphers, best known for his role in the “Halloween” franchise,” died on Sunday, Aug. 4 from a brief illness in Tucson, Arizona, Variety reported. He was 85.
“Charles was a lovable and sensitive man,” Cyphers’ manager Chris Roe said in a statement to Variety.
“He always had the best stories, and you got a full performance while he told you,” it continued. “He was a close friend and client on many years who will be dearly missed.”
Born on July 28, 1939, in Niagara Falls, New York, Cyphers was a graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, the late actor’s IMDb biography states.
Cyphers also took drama classes at Los Angeles City College and got his Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts from Cal State at LA, Cyphers’ biography states.
His first feature film was “Truck Turner” in 1974, in which he played the character Drunk. Cypher first worked with Carpenter in the 1976 action film “Assault on Precinct 13,” in which he played Special Officer Starker.
After the original “Halloween,” Cyphers appeared in Carpenter’s 1980 horror film “The Fog” and 1981 film “Escape From New York.” Cyphers’ other film credits include “Coming Home” (1978), “The Onion Field” (1979), “Borderline” (1980), “Honkytonk Man” (1982) and “Major League” (1989).
Outside of film, Cyphers appeared in multiple television series including “Barnaby Jones,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” “The Bionic Woman,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Roots,” “Wonder Woman,” “The Betty White Show,” “Starsky and Hutch,” “Hill Street Blues, “ER,” “Nick Freno: Licensed Teacher,” and more.
