Voice of the stars: Lothar Blumhagen died

The actor lent his voice to Christopher Plummer - most recently in "Knives Out" - and Roger Moore in "Die 2".
The actor and voice actor Lothar Blumhagen died on Tuesday in Berlin at the age of 95. Blumhagen was the German voice of many international stars. His dark, rough timbre was unmistakable and perfectly underlined the appearance of a British gentleman.
For example, he was very often the voice of Christopher Plummer, most recently in the Netflix comedy "Knives Out – Murder is a Family Affair" (2020). Several times Blumhagen voiced the German dubbing for Roger Moore, for example in the 70s action series "Die 2" as Lord Brett Sinclair. In the Oscar-winning media thriller "Die Unbestechlichen" (1976), Blumhagen was heard in German as "Deep Throat": an informant who provided US investigative reporters Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward with information in a dark underground car park without ever being seen. Blumhagen also provided dubbing work for Christopher Lee, Alan Rickman ("Actually... Love") and the Swede Erland Josephson ("Scenes of a Marriage"). Radio play fans know him as a frequent guest of the RIAS series "Professor van Dusen".
Blumhagen also stood in front of the camera again and again for television films and was also seen on theater stages. He lived in Berlin. He had fallen asleep there in a hospital "in the presence of his family," his son told dpa. "His family mourns the loss of a humorous, warm-hearted and generous father, father-in-law and grandfather. We will remember him as an open-minded, art and literature enthusiast."
