“On behalf of everyone in the group, may I extend my condolences to his family and appreciation of this great and uniquely talented man. The world of the arts has lost a magnificent actor. I, for one, have lost a very dear friend,” Kenchington added.
Shane Briant was born on August 17, 1946, in London, England. Although he studied Law at Trinity College Dublin, he became a professional actor and novelist.
He was best known for plating the lead role in Hamlet at the Eblana Theatre, Dublin. The London-born actor also acted rules in four Hammer Films productions; Straight on Till Morning, Demons of the Mind, Captain Kronos – Vampire Hunter, and Frankenstein and the Monster from Hell.

In the early years of his career, Briant played one of the leads in Children of the Wolf, alongside Sheelagh Cullen and Yvonne Mitchell at London’s Apollo Theatre. He was succeeded in being nominated for the ‘Best Newcomer award by the London theatre critics for this role.
Briant built himself a successful Hollywood film career. He started his career by playing rules in notable films, such as the Gillian Hills horror film “Demons of the Mind,” the Horst Janson horror flick “Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter,” and “Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell.”
He also had several major rules in television series such as The Sweeney, Van der Valk, and Jack Gold’s The Naked Civil Servant. During that time, Shane appeared in many BBC drama series and Plays of the Month.
In 1973, in Hollywood, Briant played a role in Glenn Jordan’s The Picture of Dorian Gray. Later he played in The Mackintosh Man alongside Paul Newman.
Since the early 1980s, much of his work has been in New Zealand and Australian films and television. He starred in 14 films in Australia and New Zealand.
He published seven novels in Australia and one in the United States. Briant’s first short film, titled A Message from Fallujah, received the “Best of the Fest” award at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (2005).
